Islamia College Won Inter-College Cricket Tournament at KU

 
Srinagar, Oct 19 (KNS): Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar won the coveted Inter-College Cricket Tournament organized by Physical Education Department of University of Kashmir defeating Govt. Degree College,
Baramulla comprehensively by 29 runs. 

An official said that the finals held at University Cricket field proved to be a game of fluctuating fortunes with ICSC holding their nerve in crunch situation. "Deciding to bat first after winning the toss, ICSC lost Ghazi Mushtaq early. Captain Mohammad Hurrair looked good but couldn't capitalize on a solid start," he said. 

He said that a match winning partnership of 60 runs between Quanain and Yasir consolidated the things. "Quanian scored 42. In the final overs it was again allrounder Muteeb who played a cameo of 30 of 12 deliveries," he added. 

The official said that chasing an imposing target of 163 runs Govt. Degree College, Baramulla despite flashes of brilliance kept losing wickets at regular intervals, thanks to a brilliant off spin bowling in tandem by Hurrair and Muteeb taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. 

"Muteeb was adjudged Man of the Match. 
Principal complimented the side and hosted them for a cup of tea late in the day," the official added.(KNS)
