"Science and technology helped world to combat  Covid pandemic "

 Srinagar February 28:(KNS) Department of Biotechnology, Islamia College of Science & Commerce, celebrated National Science Day on 28 Feb 2022, the day which marks the discovery of Raman Effect. The special lecture  was delivered by Dr. Sujata Sharma, Professor (Biophysics), AIIMS, New Delhi. She deliberated on the topic "Science at the forefront: A tale of two pandemics - AIDS and COVID" which was in-tune with the theme for year 2022, “Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future”. She explained how the advances in science and technology helped the world to combat the current pandemic in a short span of time . The lecture was attended by students as well as members of faculty from different colleges, universities and science institutes. 

The lecture was followed by an interactive session. 
The program was conducted by Dr. Shah Ubaid ullah, Assistant Professor  Biotechnology of the college. 
Mr. Sheikh Saleem, head, Biotechnology proposed the vote of thanks.
 
Essay and painting/poster competitions are part of the celebrations of National Science Day which are  open to students across all colleges.(KNS)
