International Environment Day: PCB Chief urges use of eco-friendly tools, machines

Srinagar, June 5 (KNS): Chairman Pollution Control Board of Jammu Kashmir Suresh chug today said urged people to use eco friendly tools and machines to avoid pollution for safety of the environment.

 

He also said International Environment Day is being celebrated this year on 5 June under the theme of restoration of eco system. 

"Since the eco system has got disturbed due to unfriendly eco behavior of the humans existence, it's restoration is must, and several steps are being taken to get back the glory of nature," he said.

 

The covid pandemic is also an environmental is leaving a lesson for human beings added.

"Since the lockdown has been put in place, the nature got healed and showing signs of improvement,"Suresh chug said. 

 

All the elements of environment, water bodies, soil, air are showing improvement and gives indication that if we live eco friendly life, the environment would be healed, he added. 

 

The humans have to limit it's carbon footprint to help the nature to get flourish. 

 

Our water bodies, forests, soil all need a proper restoration and it should be our collective concern for human experience, he further said. 

 

On eve of world environment day, he said an event was today organised in collaboration with SAMBHAV Eco Alternatives (Disha Volunteer Organization ) and Indian Oil Ltd ( A Government of India's undertaking). 

 

On the occasion, Chairman JK Pollution Control Committee, 

released Eco friendly bio-degradable products which are made of cow dung and other eco friendly products decorative items, Flower Pots, Agarbatis and Dhoops etc. 

Addressing the participants,

Chairman, JK PCC said that the time has come to use eco friendly products in life, as due to rampant use of chemical products the environment of the country as well as whole world is deteriorating to a large extent.

 He lauded the role of DISHA (an NGO) in managing cow dung from the Urban Areas, which is cause of concern as large number of stray animals litter everywhere.

Chairman also expressed gratitude to the Indian Oil Corporation for financing a Briquette Machine to DISHA Organization under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). 

Such machines can be used for commercial purposes which

may also improve the socio economic conditions of the women of rural/urban areas. 

He requested Indian Oil Corporation and other industrial houses to come forward and support the noble cause of

organization like DISHA.
