Srinagar, Jun 22 (KNS): In view of the incessant rains, authorities on Wednesday suspended classwork up to high schools in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, while as people have been asked to stay away from water bodies including Nallahs and river banks. 
 
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that keeping in view the situation due to incessant rainfall, class work in all Primary, Middle and High Schools shall remain suspended today. 
 
He said that the class work up to high school level has been suspended in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Pulwama, and Ramban districts. 
 
Notably, incessant rains over the past couple of days have created a flood-like situation in many parts of the Kashmir and Chenab Valley, forcing authorities to take preventive measures including closure of schools. 
 
Meanwhile, chief engineer Irrigation and Flood Control department urged people to stay away from Nallah and river banks as the water level was showing an increasing trend. (KNS)
