Rayees Ahmad elected as president; committee formed to resolve various issues faced by locality

Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): The residents of Hamza Mohalla Lane No 2 of Umer Colony A in Srinagar on Sunday formed a committee to resolve the locality problems and increase the standard of living.

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), to look after the overall functionality of the committee, Rayees Ahmad Zargar was elected as president of the Mohalla Welfare & Development Committee, Iqbal Ahmad Shah as vice-president, Parvez Ahmad Zargar as general secretary, Dr Khurshid Ahmad as joint secretary, Riyaz Ahmad Lone as treasurer, Abdul Bari, Javid Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad Managing Committee Members.

The statement reads that in the meeting, other general members assured full support and cooperation to the newly formed Mohalla Committee.

The committee president said that the locality faces many problems including overloaded transformer, shortage of drinking water and defunct drainage system, which need immediate attention from the government.

He said that the committee will put forth these issues before the concerned government departments and seek a quick redressal.

“Soon we will also constitute sub-committees to look after other social aspects of the locality like funeral arrangements, helping the needy ones, etc,” he said.

He said that the committee will take initiatives to counsel locality for different social affairs for better living, be it maintaining cleanness in the locality, following COVID SOP's or anything which will increase the benchmark of local living in a modern way.

He also said that WhatsApp groups have been created to facilitate and dispense critical information among the locality members. (KNS)
