Government has suspended the passport of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani for four-weeks after which the vetern pro-freedom leader has got a green signal from US embassy in New Delhi for his travel to New York to attend OIC foreign ministers meet starting from September 27.
Talking to KNS, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that the Geelani received an email from Srinagar Passport Office today in which it was mentioned that his passport has been suspended for four weeks. “Geelani sahab has applied for visa to travel to New York to attend Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) foreign ministers meet there and the US embassy has given a green signal.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSo to avoid Geelani sahab to attend the meeting in New York, his passport has been suspended for four weeks,” Akbar said, while condemning the act of the government.
He said the India’s claims of being a great democracy have proved “fraud” as the voices of political opponents have been choked. “Both Indian and state governments are afraid that Geelani will expose them before the world community, and will aware OIC leadership about grave HR violations in J&K. That is why they are not allowing him to travel to New York,” he said. (KNS)
