Srinagar January 30:(KNS) A delegation of Jammu & Kashmir Fruit Growers Association today called onD irector Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS) at Directorate of
Horticulture Kashmir and apprised Director Horticulture about issues faced by the
growers of valley. The association demanded that import of Iranian Apples via
Afghanistan are being sold in New Sabzi Mandi Azadpur New Delhi must be
restricted as it severely jeopardize the interest of fruit growers of valley.
The Director Horticulture responded to the delegation that the issue has been
takenup with the UT Government as well as GoI with the request to take
appropriate action as warranted. The delegation was assured that their all other
genuine issues shall be redressed. Director on demand of association assured to
take up the matter of availability of required quantities of HMO and pesticides with
concerned authorities so that availability of these important inputs is ensured
After that, a meeting of Sub Committee of SLEC for examination and scrutiny
of DPRs related to C.A. Storage units/Reefer Vans under Mission for Integrated
Development of Horticulture (MIDH) was held at Directorate of Horticulture
Rajbagh Srinagar.
The Sub Committee examined the 13 DPRs of C.A. Stores / four Reefer Vans
submitted by Private Entrepreneurs for seeking assistance under the scheme and
after examination of DPRs, concerned Entrepreneurs were directed to complete the
deficiencies listed so that these cases are placed before SLEC for sanction/approval.
Lateron in the day, a deputation of JK Non-Gazetted Horticulture Union also
called on the Director and appraised him about the problems faced by them.
Director assured to redress the same within the shortest possible time.(KNS)
