Kupwara, Oct 31 (KNS): Residents of Simari, described as India's first village along the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district, on Saturday joined the nationwide Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations through a live screening of the National Unity Day parade held at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.

The programme was organised by District Police Kupwara in coordination with the district administration, bringing the national celebrations to one of the country's far-flung border villages.

Around 500 people, including a large number of students and residents from Simari and neighbouring villages of Karnah, gathered to watch the live telecast of the parade commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Officials said the initiative was aimed at enabling people living along the Line of Control to participate in the national celebrations and witness the events taking place at Ekta Nagar.

The gathering witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and local residents, reflecting the involvement of border communities in programmes promoting national unity and integration.

Officials said the screening provided an opportunity for residents of the remote border region to connect with the nationwide observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and its message of unity, solidarity and national integrity. (KNS)
