Poonch, Oct 15 (KNS): Fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir has led to the closure of the Mughal Road, with authorities suspending vehicular movement as a precautionary measure, officials said on Thursday.
According to a traffic official, slippery road conditions following the snowfall prompted the decision to shut the route to ensure the safety of commuters.
The official said clearance operations would be taken up after the snowfall stops and weather conditions become favourable for restoration of vehicular movement.
Meanwhile, Several areas in the higher reaches of Kashmir were draped in white after an active western disturbance brought fresh overnight snowfall, officials said. The plains, including summer capital Srinagar, were lashed by overnight rains. (KNS)
