Food and Drugs Administration, conducts Training cum Workshop for ICDS & MDM workers at KU

Srinagar March 24:(KNS) Continuing its series of Awareness Programmes across the districts of the UT, the Department of Food and Drugs Administration J&K in association with FSSAI and Perfiti India today conducted one day Training cum Workshop on Food fortification at Gandhi Bhawan Kashmir University. The programme was designed and dedicated for the officials and workers of MDM and ICDS of District Srinagar.

 
The programme was attended by more than 200 participants including Officials/Officers from the ICDS, Education department and Food Civil Supplies and consumer Affairs besides the officers from Drugs and Food control Organisation
On this occasion Mrs. Irfana Ahmad Dy. Commissioner Food Safety Kashmir emphasized upon the need of fortification of foods and its mass awareness regarding its health benefits. Mr. Prabhakar Mishra Director Perfiti India stressed upon the importance of providing safe and nutritious food to consumers. He further stressed upon the need of big food business houses to fulfill the commitment towards corporate social responsibilities. Dr. Nissar Ahmad Registrar KU pointed to the urgency to have healthy lifestyle and the need to consume nutritious food. Mrs. Vijeta, Coordinator FFRC Division, gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on Food fortification. Mr. Yamin Ul Nabi Nodal Office Food Fortification gave a brief detail on the coordination of the various departments and agencies in disseminating the awareness for Fortified foods. Mrs. Zeenat Ara Programme Officer, ICDS, Srinagar highlighted the role of her department in combating the nutrional deficiencies of the weaker sections of society. 
 
Later on the question answer session was held during which various questions on Food fortification were raised by the participants which were replied by Mushtaq Abbas Zakir Food Safety Officer IcLC and Shabir Ahmad Technical Officer Food Safety.(KNS)
