Provides assistance of Rs 5524.79 Crore to 2106 entrepreneurs, Launches OOZKEE to give extra push for earning own employment

Kupwara, Dec 13 (KNS): To become self-reliant district administration Kupwara is facilitating young entrepreneurs to take up their dreams through a variety of self-employment programmes.

Under variety of centrally sponsored schemes, district administration Kupwara with the help of banks has disbursed around Rs 5524.79 Crore in favour of 2106 aspiring entrepreneurs this fiscal.

To give wings to the young generation of Kupwara and make them able to take entrepreneurship journey the administration has introduced a variety of self-employment programmes during the year 2022-23 to aid young people in starting their own businesses.

According to data accessed by Kashmir News Service (KNS) under employment generation scheme PMEGP, sponsoring agency DIC had set the target of 92 for the year of 2022-23, however, it received 782 applications and out of 305 sanctioned cases 206 cases were disbursed. 

Under PMEGP, sponsoring agency KVIB, the administration set the target of 62, received 1046 applications and out 516 sanctioned cases 535 cases were disbursed. 

Under sponsoring agency KVIC, the administration set the target of 64, but received only 133 cases and out of these 28 sanctioned cases 20 cases were disbursed.  

Similarly under sponsoring agency NRLM, through scheme SHG (Self-help Group), the administration set the target of 1684, however 1300 applications were received, out of these 1217 cases were disbursed with the amount of around 2115 lakhs.  

The employment department Kupwara has received 479 cases under MUMKIN scheme, out of these 123 cases have been disbursed with the amount of 1646.73 Lakhs.

The departments like, Handloom and Handicraft have disbursed around 127 cases to take up own employment for the youth of Kupwara.

The facilitation of flagship schemes by the district administration has provided job opportunities to the youth who are struggling to earn their living. 

Meanwhile, one of the entrepreneurs, hailing from Gagal Lolab told KNS that he has set up Spice Grinding and Packing manufacturing plant by the assistance of KVIB 4 years ago.

“Initially, I felt it was challenging to run the plant, but now I am providing employment to 6 other people, besides earning my own revenue. KVIB and district administration Kupwara provided me all possible support to fulfil my dream,” he added.

To give extra push to earn own employment, DC Kupwara Dr Sagar launched ‘OOZKE’, a mission for establishment of maximum income generating units under PMEGP in the district.
 ‘OOZKE’ is aimed at providing counselling to the unemployed youth regarding their area of interest in 85 different activities on a mission mode. 

Under the mission, the procedures and formalities of the banks have been simplified to encourage maximum youth to get their units timely establishment.

With the help of government sponsored schemes the entrepreneurs are on a way to change their destinies through the Prime Minister Employment Generation Program schemes and many have proven their mettle through the dint of their hard work, sincerity, dedication and honesty. 

Apart from these schemes, the government is doing constant handholding of youth through various other schemes to facilitate employment, provide self-employment guidance and skill development for the unemployed youth so as to enhance their incomes, thus promoting inclusive growth. (KNS)
