Delimitation process carried out to favour particular political party: Usman Majid

Srinagar, Jan 01 (KNS): Apni Party vice-president Usman Majid on Saturday said that the actual process of delimiatation which takes into account the population and area has been ignored and it is being carried out to favour a particular political party

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Majid said that Apni aprty has a clear stand that people should protest on this matter as delimitation is not just based on its name, but the actual process ignored the aspect of population and area.

“It is like that it has been carried out to favour some special political party. Everybody has the right to talk. In democracy, there is a right to protest and every political party of J&K should held a protest against this injustice,” he added.

Majid said that things wont get right by the emotional politics and the people should not get carried away while deciding between right and wrong.

“By emotional slogans, NC is playing their politics. When the BJP government abrogated the article 370, a week before that Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah along with the MPs of National Conference met the Prime Minister, which means that they knew about its abrogation,” he said.

He also said that recently the NC MPs also held a meeting with the delimitation panel and they are creating a confusion by saying that they want the rights of people back, but on the other hand they are meeting the panel.

Talking about delimitation process, he said that according to 2011 census there is a difference of 12.50 lakh between Jammu and Kashmir and the Valley has highest population.

“If there is any discrepancy in the earlier census, then the government should conduct a new census so that according to population of both regions, delimitation would be done. It is not necessary that before elections, delimitation should be carried out. The process can be completed after elections but this decision of the panel will create a rift between all the regions.”

About SIT report of Hyderpora encounter , Majid said that whether through a judicial or a magisterial probe, Apni party only demands that the families of civilians who were killed in the gunfight should be given justice. (KNS)
