Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): Urging the State Govt to provide IAY (Indira Awas Youjana) benefits for construction of houses to people living below poverty line as per the present strength of the population, Congress today expressed surprise over the intentions of the Govt to provide IAY to BPL Category as per the 2011 census, which is not going to address the genuine concerns of poor people.
Expressing serious concern over this move Congress General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi blamed the Govt for being ignorant about the major portion of the population living below poverty line across the State.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
It has been learnt that Govt is mulling to provide IAY to BPL category as per the census of 2011, which is not going to accommodate the entire BPL Category, for the fact, the population since 2011 has risen to great extent and those who were not enrolled in the Census 2011 cannot be denied of their basic rights.
He said Govt must constitute a team of experts to prepare complete the data of BPL population and enroll them as per the present population strength in all the three regions of the State inorder to avoid any kind of discrimination with the poor people. (KNS)
