Commissioner Secretary H&UDD Reviews Muharram Arrangements in Srinagar; Inspects ABC Centre at Tengpora and Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk


Srinagar, June 30 (KNS): In a proactive move to ensure seamless and safe observance of Muharram-ul-Harram, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Mandeep Kaur (IAS), Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Housing & Urban Development Department, conducted a comprehensive inspection of key sites across Srinagar today. She was accompanied by Faz Lul Haseeb (IAS), Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, and senior officials from SMC and allied departments.

The visit included prominent Imam Bargahs in Zadibal and Hassanabad, where the Commissioner Secretary personally reviewed the arrangements being made for Muharram processions and religious gatherings. She interacted with members of the Shia community, listening to their suggestions and concerns to ensure a peaceful and dignified observance of the holy month.

She reassured community members of the government’s full support and its commitment to public safety and well-being.

To uphold hygiene standards, she directed concerned officials to carry out thorough fumigation at all key religious sites, including Imam Bargahs, mosques, and shrines.

In addition to reviewing Muharram arrangements, she also visited the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre at Tengpora to assess its operations. Later, she inspected the Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk, taking stock of facilities and preparations being put in place for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

This comprehensive field visit reflects the government’s ongoing commitment in facilitating religious events with dignity and care, while ensuring public health, safety, and communal harmony remain top priorities.(KNS)
