Srinagar June 30, (KNS): Congress Legislature Party Leader & AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Monday met Minister for PHE, Irrigation & FC Javed Rana and had detailed discussions on various important issues concerning people in his constituency (Dooru).
Mir also highlighted various irrigation related issues concerning people elsewhere in J&K, laying emphasis over attaching importance to these for their timely resolution, mentioning that people have high expectations from the Govt, which have to responded with timely resolution.
Mir also met Minister for Health, Med Edu and social welfare Sakina Itoo in Civil Sectt Srinagar, and discussed required health infrastructure and medical facilities for the general public.
During his meeting with PHE Minister Javed Rana, Mir highlighted the importance of completion of Bringi right irrigation canal, 80% of work on this canal stands completed. Timely completion of the remaining portion will ensure full irrigation coverage and benefit a large agriculture belt; Mir told the Minister while seeking exploration of Irrigation canal Dedibal Dooru Payeen canal.
The CLP Leader told the Minister that this proposed canal is expected to revolutionize irrigation access for numerous villages along its route, so early initiation of DPR preparation and other required formalities will go a long way in addressing persistent irrigation shortfalls.
Regarding repairing of Chenigund irrigation water reservoir, which is lying defunct since 2014 floods.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMir demanded restoration of this dam, which is crucial to revive its utility and support the agrarian economy of the region and also sought express water supply scheme for Manzmou and adjacent villages, besides installation of irrigation bore well at Akingam, Hardpora, Hakura, Damhal, Nowpora and Shankerpora to address the acute shortage of irrigation facilities in these villages. Bore well will serve as a critical emergency intervention to support local agriculture and ensure timely access to water for farmers, Mir maintained.
Mir told the Minister to call an urgent meeting with concerned officials and ensure redressal of the issues which he (Mir) highlighted during his meeting with the Minister.
During the meeting with the Health & Medical Edu Minister, CLP Leader discussed threadbare health facilities and the infrastructure which is urgently required to address the pressing demands of people.
Mir urged utilization of Hospital building Dooru and address the staff shortage of SDH Dooru and PHC Qamar.
During the meeting the construction of a new hospital at Nowgam Shahbad and PHC Hakura Bodsgam also came under discussion. Mir told the Minister that these are pressing demands and urgent public requirements, which has to be done at the earliest to ensure respite to patients.
Mir also sought absolute functioning of Sagam PHC, which has a vast feeding area, urging that it should be made fully functional day night for public convenience. (KNS)
