Srinagar, Feb 05 (KNS): Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development, Maneka Gandhi Friday announced that cell phones have been equipped with a panic button to help women in distress.
Gandhi while addressing to the people in a function titled, ‘All India Regional Address Conference’ said that all cell phones, old and new, will have this feature, which will enhance safety of a women across India.
Gandhi said that all the new cell phones will have an in-built panic button and in case of the old phones, the owner will have to ask the manufacturer to install the button.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“If a woman is in trouble, she can just press the button on the cell phone and she will immediately get help”, Gandhi said in a function.
According to KNS correspondent who was also present in the occasion said, after installing the button in her cell phone, she will press the button for a few seconds and the phone will automatically connect to a number fed by the user earlier. “The WCD and the telecom ministries have started working on the proposal, which will be completed in the next six months,” Gandhi said.
