Srinagar , June 8 (KNS): Residents of Karnah Tehsil demanded macadamization of the road that connects it with Tehsil Kupwara.
" Karnah is connected with Kupwara through a 100km long National hiighway which is dotted with potholes and makes it difficult for any kind of transport to ply," they said.

The responsibility of construction and maintaining of this road is with Border Roads Organization(BRO).
"As BRO claims that they are doing its best to maintain the road. But it seems their promise is only on the paper because the reality is totally different. Apart from bad road, it is delay in re-carpeting them that is causing inconvenience to residents. After digging up road for lying cables the civic bodies are taking their own time to re-carpet it."

Recently the Chief Engineer BRO had visited Karnah Vallley and informed KNS that funds have been received received for this road besides 3 bridges for strating the work soon.
The conditions of other link roads dotted with potholes that come under the management of R&B are Tangdar to Taad, Parada, Amrohi, Panjtara, Dhani,Hajitra, Ibkote, Badarkote, Nachiyan, Shamsaspora, Badwan, Gabra and Kona Gabra.
When KNS contacted Executive Engineer R&B Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, he stated that due to bad weather conditions and nCOViD-19 pandemic the R&B had stopped its construction and maintaining works.
He also mentioned that maintenance of these roads will be their first priority when there is an improvement in recent conditions and relaxation in lockdown.
