Srinagar, Sep 12 (KNS): All Party Sikh Coordination Committee Kashmir (APSCC) chairman and senior political leader Jagmohan Raina on Saturday described the 18th BRICS Summit as an encouraging development, saying the coming together of major countries provides an important platform to discuss economic development, security, mutual cooperation and global stability.

Raina said BRICS has emerged as an important international platform where major economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia, can come together to exchange views on issues concerning their respective countries as well as the wider global community.

He said the summit provides an opportunity for participating nations to deliberate on key areas including resilience, innovation, trade, finance, cooperation and sustainability.

“Whenever world leaders sit across the table and engage in meaningful dialogue, it creates opportunities to address differences, resolve issues and build greater cooperation among nations,” Raina said.

Raina also highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties among participating countries and exploring new opportunities in trade, investment and development.

At the same time, he said other major economies, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, should also become part of broader global dialogue platforms to ensure a more inclusive international mechanism for addressing global challenges.

“The younger generation across the world wants cooperation rather than confrontation. They want world leaders to work together on peace, economic development, security and sustainability,” Raina said.

Welcoming the BRICS Summit as a positive initiative, Raina expressed hope that the deliberations would lead to meaningful outcomes and further strengthen the spirit of cooperation, peace and economic stability among nations. (KNS)
