Baramulla Police arrests 18 drug peddlers, seizes Rs 2 Cr narcotics in May

Baramulla, May 20 (KNS): Baramulla Police on Thursday in an official press release has claimed to have arrested twelve drug peddlers, registered four cases and seized narcotic substances worth two crores, 2 blacks and 90 thousand in ten days of May 2021.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) Police spokesman said "Inaction undertaken by Police Station Uri & Police Station Bijhama under the supervision of Junaid Wali-JKPS (SDPO Uri) arrested 08 drug peddlers Changez Khan S/O Muneer Hussain R/O Bandi Brahmana Uri, Mehtab Ahmad Shah S/O Azad Hussain R/O Paranpeelan Uri,  Basharat Raina S/O Ab Lateef Raina  R/O Salamabad Uri, Amir Arif Khan S/O Mohamad Arif,  Tawseef Ahmad Turk S/O Mohamad Yaseen, Sahil Hassan Bhat S/O Gh Hassan Bhat, Amjad Sadiq Khan S/O Mohamad Sadiq all Rs/O Pringal Boniyar &   Mohamad Sayeed  S/O Gh Mohamad Ahanger R/O Noorkhah Bijhama at Bandi Uri and Kanchan Bijhama and recovered contraband 400 grams of Heroin and  175 grams of charas like substance from their possession. In this regard, a case under sections of NDPS has been registered in concerned Police Stations and investigation was taken up"

The statement further reads "Similarly, inaction undertaken by Police Station Pattan under the supervision of Sh. Zaffar Mehdi-JKPS (SDPO Pattan) arrested 02 drug peddlers namely Rafiq Ahmad Lone S/O Sonaullah Lone, Guftar Ahmad Lone S/O Ghulam Mohd Lone Rs/O Kalaroos Kupwara at Ussan Khoie Pattan and recovered contraband 500 grams of Charas like substance from their possession. In this regard, a case under sections of NDPS has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation was taken up"
  
"Moreover, in action undertaken by Police Station Kreeri under the supervision of Sh. Tariq Mehmood-JKPS (SDPO Kreeri) arrested 02 drug peddlers Firdous Ahmad Rather S/O Mohd Ashraf R/O Takiya Yosuf Shah & Umar Ashraf Shah S/O Gh Qadir Shah R/O Dudbugh Chandoosa at Kreeri Market and recovered contraband 105 grams of Charas like substance from their possession. In this regard, a case under sections of NDPS has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation was taken up"
  
"It is pertinent to mention here that the constant pressure was mounted upon the drug peddlers to curb this menace, which resulted in decline in drug trafficking in the district during the month of May 2021"

"During the month of May till now Baramulla Police arrested 18 drug peddlers, registered 7 cases and seized narcotic substances worth 2 Crores, 8 Lacs & 82 K (approx.) value in black market" Statement reads (KNS)
