Srinagar, May 7 (KNS): Action Aid Association and Uri Foundation organised an awareness program on Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) 2011 with the elected representatives, activists and students of Nambla village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The program was themed – ‘Consensus building on the Implementation of the Public Service Guarantee Act 2011’ with all the stakeholders.

The speakers for the program were Advocate Toseal Ahmad, Naveed Bukhtiyar and social activist Haneef Ahmad.

Advocate Toseal talked in detail about the objectives and intention and procedure of the law. He also aware the participants about the remedies under the Act.  

Advocate Naveed spoke about the ways to implement the law and need to make amendment for strengthening. He also emphasised that PRIs and educated class of the Uri has a more responsibility to further disseminate the knowledge and help common masses.

Haneef hailed the efforts of the organization and said that everyone needs to appreciate them for their extraordinary work. “People can give you to eat but no one will give you the right advice,” he said.

The program was moderated by Abrar Bhat, coordinator Uri Foundation who started with a brief introduction of the organisation and the work carried out by the NGO in the past.

A vote of thanks was extended by the Sajid Naseer, General Secretary of Uri Foundation. 

He thanked all the participants for attending the program and assured every possible help to the community for the awareness of Public Service Guarantee Act 2011.  

At the end, a question answer session was held between the organisers and participants where the students and elected members shared their experience that they have faced while visiting government offices.

All the participants thanked the Uri Foundation and Action Aid Association for their efforts and requested them to hold more such programs at the village level.(KNS)
