Large number of localities still reel under darkness

Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNS): The intra-district vehicular connectivity in several Kashmir areas remained affected for the third consecutive day Sunday, with concerned administrations miserably failing to clear snow from interior and link roads.
Residents of several villages of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district including Damahal Hanjipora, Qazigund, Bathjalan, Katrasoo, Shalipora and Waltengu complained that the district administration has failed to clear snow from main roads, let alone interiors. This has badly affected movement of vehicles and pedestrians, they said.
“Instead of snow clearance machines, tractors were pressed into service at some places, leading to more problems. The tractors cleared little snow and instead left behind slippery patches, leading to accidents,” said a resident of Qazigund.
Though power supply in Kulgam town has been restored, most of the villages in the district are reeling under darkness for the past three days.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelScores of areas are also suffering from water scarcity.

Reports from Shopian, Pulwama and Tral areas said scores of link roads remained cut off.
Various interior roads in Srinagar also remained under snow, causing huge inconvenience to people.
Residents of Srinagar areas including Dalgate, Habba Kadal, Nowshara, Soura, Hyderpora, Sanat Nagar, Barzulla and Bemina alleged that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has failed to make interior roads motorable.
Normal life in several localities of North Kashmir remained disrupted due to blocked roads. (KNS)
