Attention is needed to develop Sports in order to keep the youth aways from Drugs :Vakil

Sopore August 24 (KNS) : Senior vice president People’s Conference (PC) and Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said to curb the drug menace, the government should develop sports infrastructure on a fast track basis in Jammu & kashmir.

Addressing a sports function organised by Noor ul huda School in Amargarh Sopore Vakil in his key speech said it is need of the hour to develop sports facilities in J&k so that youth could channelize their talent in the right direction.“Over the past several years, youth have been neglected by the UT administration and there is a need to develop world class facilities in each and every part of Jammu & Kashmir,” Vakil said.
The senior leader said the youth of the region have enough talent, and they are proving day in day out but they need the opportunities at the right place but they are ignored at all ends, he said.
“Each year, crores of budget is being sanctioned for sports activities but funds have been restricted to papers only. There is a need to audit the budget,” he said.  Government needs to develop sports infrastructure on the international level so that people from other states and countries can come to J&K to compete but unfortunately till now scams are only coming to the fore whether it is cricket scam or the recent revelation of football scam.
Vakil also distributed prizes among the winners and runner-ups and urged them to keep their spirits high. He also appreciated the organizers for managing such sports events in the area and stated that sports will keep youth away from drugs.
There is a need for concrete steps at the administration level, so that sports especially  Martial arts will flourish here. We have Cricket, Football and Volleyball popular games in Kashmir and the government should build infrastructure to keep the youth away from drug menace and encourage sports activities,” he said. Vakil said it is time to invest in the future and the administration should not be reluctant to develop good stadiums in Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
