Jammu, Oct 24 (KNS): The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed Ashok Kumar Bhagat as Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Scheduled Caste Department.

The appointment was approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, while the formal order was issued by AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal on the recommendation of AICC SC Department Chairman Rajendra Pal Gautam and the JKPCC.

Bhagat, who hails from Akhnoor, had contested the last Assembly elections as a Congress candidate from the constituency and secured over 25,000 votes.

JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, former minister Mula Ram and PCC headquarters in-charge Ved Mahajan, a former MLC, were also present on the occasion. (KNS)
