Srinagar, Feb 10 (KNS): Residents of Brinty village in Dialgam area of Anantnag in south Kashmir district on Monday complained of lack of portable drinking water supply in the area.
Resident of Brinty village said that they are being forced to fetch the water from the nearby streams which can cause water borne diseases among the locals.
“We are being forced to consume contaminated water from ponds and rivers which has led to spread of communicable diseases in the area,” locals said.
The residents of the area told Kashmir News Service that they are facing water shortage in the area since last three years and the concerned department is watching as mute spectator.
They said that they were assured several time by the authorities that the water supply problems in the area will be solved soon but nothing is being done on ground.

Bashir Ahmad, a resident of the area told KNS that the new water pipes in the area was installed few years ago but are still dry.
AEE PHE Division Anantnag Reyaz Ahmad told KNS that process of laying of new water pipes is going on.
He added,“ they are getting complaints of non availability of water from this area since long. Then we started a new water supply scheme for the said area. We are currently laying new pipes in the area and the work is going on. We are expecting to finish the pending work very soon”, (KNS).
