Amar Singh College organises One-Day Awareness Programme on “The Use of e-Resources"

Srinagar September 02 (KNS):  The Central Library of Amar Singh College Srinagar in Collaboration with Debates & Seminars Committee organized a one day awareness programme on “The Use of e-Resources with Special Reference to N-LIST and NDLI Databases”.

The programme was held on 01-09-2022 in Bukhari hall of the college and was moderated by Mrs. Huma Shafi, Librarian Central Library A S College Srinagar. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Heena Amin, Convenor Debates & Seminars Committee. She at the outset welcomed all the guests at the occasion and also emphasized the need for the awareness about e-resources and access to the platforms like NLIST and NDLI. 

The welcome address was followed by the presidential address delivered by Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather worthy principal A S College Srinagar. Worthy principal accentuated the significance of libraries in the higher educational institutions and contended that it is detrimental in our times for libraries to escape the digital revolution. He lauded the efforts of Debates Committee and Library department for organizing such a worthwhile programme. The technical Session commenced immediately after the presidential address. 
The first resource person of the awareness programme Dr. Ruman Gul , Librarian GDC Tangmarg, delivered the presentation on the topic ‘The use of e-resource with Special Reference to NDLI Database”. Dr. Ruman educated students about the use and access to National Digital Library of India. The learned speaker emphasized the difference between the Google search, which brings about random results and NDLI search which is a specialized search customized to the needs of the student pertaining to a particular programme.

He also illuminated the students and faculty about how they can contribute to the content formation on the NDLI. The second awareness lecture was delivered by Dr. Mudasir Khazir, Librarian GDC Beerwah. Dr. Khazir deliberated at length on the topic ‘Use of e-resource with Special Reference to N-LIST’. He underscored the point that N-LIST provides authentic and qualitative resource and material. He also discussed in detail the N-LIST registration process for the institutions. 
The technical session was followed by the felicitation ceremony where the worthy principal presented mementos to both the distinguished speakers.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Umra Shah, Assistant Professor, Department of English while as Prof. Shahnawaz Muntazir, Prof. Aaliya Muzaffar & Prof. Tafzul Hussain acted as rapporteurs. The programme witnessed an encouraging student footfall. (KNS)
