People face harassment due to Covid-19 travel restrictions

Banihal, Oct 22 (KNS) ; National conference leader and district president Ramban, Haji Sajjad Shaheen has expressed serious concern over the harrasment of people on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Shaheen said that stage wise unlocks have been announced by the Government and recently unlock 5.0 was announced ordering precautionary measures and guidelines for the people; all of these have been imposed and adhered to but still the people are being harassed and in wake of Covid-19 travel restrictions as local and other inter District/province passengers have been facing lot of problems due to unnecessary restrictions on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel.

“Even after the government has lifted the restriction on travel and movement of people across states/UTs, the J&K administration has not lifted travel restriction at the entery and exit points of Jawahar Tunnel as thousands of people are stopped on both sides of the Tunnel and are made to wait for hours to get the formalities done, Shaheen said.
He further said that the Unnecessary restrictions have affected the business and trade since they are being halted for hours together. Despite Centre Govt directions, the state govt has not allowing free movement of people here, he added.
Shaheen said that there is no restriction on the movement of passengers anywhere even the government has ‘not kept’ mandatory the Covid-19 testing for inter- District/province travel. But here the authorities are asking the Covid-19 test and other unnecessary requirements causing grave inconvenience to the people. Authorities should follow the unlock 5.0 instruction announced by the Centeral government. “Whole J&K was declared as orange zone but unfortunately the areas falling under north and south sides of the Jawahar tunnel continuous to remain as red Zone which is unjustified.

Shaheen has appealed to the JK administration to intervene and instruct the administration to allow hassle free movement of people on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel.(KNS)
