Allegation of Horse trading in 1984 elections by Farooq Abdullah Baseless: Muzaffer Shah

Srinagar February 10 (KNS): Senior Vice President, Awami  National Conference, Muzaffer Shah while appreciating National conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on his speech in parliament but added allegations of horse trading in 1984 elections  are baseless.
According to a KNS correspondent, he said that Dr Farooq Abdullah in his speech in parliament said allegations of horse trading in 1984 elections are baseless.

“There was no discussion of horse trading in 1984 as Dr Farooq Abdullah in 1982 in Iqbal Park said that the whole cabinet of sheikh Abdullah was faulty”, Shah said.

"Despite marking them as faulty, Dr farooq offered them back to join National conference.if these people were faulty, after bringing them back in party , were not they faulty at the time of rejoining, Shah questioned?

Shah also said that after their rejoining, Dr Farooq Abdullah appointed them as Ministers.
" Their rejoining in National conference was only because Ghulam Mohammad Shah didn't oblige Rajiv Gandhi to take his two Ministers in his cabinet and added that Ghulam Mohammad Shah told him that Coalition is disaster for Jammu and Kashmir.  PDP-BJP Coalition also proved disaster wherein Jammu and Kashmir lost its special status,Shah added.

Shah also said  "at this juncture we should not forget our fight for the restoration of rights for the people of Jammu and Kashmirashmir  which is a prior responsibility for PAGD led by Dr Farooq Abdullah. We have to fight for that and added that I hope that People’s Alliance for Gupkar declaration under  your leadership will fight for restoration of article 370 and 35A," he said.

Farooq Abdullah in his recent Rajya Sabha speech claimed that money power was used to purchase his party members and he was de-thrown in 1984, he said.
Farooq Abdullah’s dramatic dismissal as Chief Minister in Jammu and Kashmir in 1984 had eroded democratic set up. GM Shah with the support of over a dozen National Conference members assumed charge of the erstwhile State back in 1984. (KNS)
