Alas! Naji Munawar-icon of  Kashmiri literature is no more: Tarigami

Srinagar, Nov 10 (KNS):  Expressing deep shock and grief over the death of a veteran writer and poet Ghulam Nabi Lone popularly known as Naji Munawar, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed the demise as an irreparable loss to the Kashmiri literature and language.

In a statement issued to KNS, Tarigami said that the Naji Munawar was a legendary, unparalleled scholar, a preface of the history of Kashmiri language and literature. "He was a linguist, critic and a great historian," he said

"Naji Sahab has authored dozens of valuable books. History of Kashmiri language and literature, Persian, History of Civilization and child literature are his great works. He has recently translated Kulyati Sheikhul Aalam into Kashmiri language," Tarigami said.

"My heartfelt condolences not only to the bereaved family but to the whole Kashmiri language and literature community," he added. (KNS)
