Srinagar, Aug 16 (KNS): Hours after All India Congress Committee chairperson Sonia Gandhi issued orders of reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir Congress with appointment of Vikar Rasool as president, Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from his new appointment as Campaign Chairman besides three senior leaders from basic membership of the party.

According to the Order issued by AICC, senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was appointed as chairman campaign committee. However he resigned from the post within no time.

His resignation was followed by Former Congress MLA from Sopore Abdul Rashid Dar, from basic membership of the party, Muhammad Amin Bhat from coordination committee and Gulzar Ahmed Wani from Pradesh election committee.

Speaking to KNS, former MLA Sopore, Abdul Rashid Dar said that appointment of Vikar Rasool is unacceptable to them.

"In our meeting with AICC chief in New Delhi, we had clearly told the leadership that appointment of Vikar Rasool as J&K head is unacceptable. We had proposed name of senior persons like Tariq Hameed Kara, G M Saroori, or myself. As Vikar Rasool is very junior to use and has no experience to handle to the coveted post as the elections are nearing. We even proposed the leadership to continue G A Mir. "

Well informed sources told KNS that more leaders are expected to resign from their new appointment or even from basis membership of congress.

However former J&K Congress chief G A Mir told KNS that he welcomes the decision of AICC president Sonia Gandhi regarding reconstitution of PCC J&K.
