Seeks smooth transportation of J&K residents to their home districts

KATHUA, MAY 10: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today reviewed the arrangements made for smooth handling of J&K residents here at Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre, who are coming from different parts of the country.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma; Deputy Commissioner Kathua OP Bhagat; State Project Director SMAGRA, Arun Manhas and other concerned.

Commissioner Secretary Jal Shakti Department, Ajeet Sahu, who is also incharge for overseeing overall arrangements at Lakhanpur, informed the Advisor that the Facilitation Centre is functioning round the clock for convenience of the people coming from different parts of the country.

The Advisor was told that a special Help Desk is functioning 24×7 to guide incoming passengers and for necessary announcements. The provision of passenger sheds, food, drinking water, toilets and security has also been put in place for the returnees, who have to wait at Lakhanpur till the completion of necessary dispatch process.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan appreciated the district administration for making elaborate arrangements at the facilitation center and for making dedicated efforts to manage the influx of passengers.

Advisor Khan impressed upon the officers to facilitate the movement of both regulated and unregulated passengers for onward journey to their respective districts.

Meanwhile, the Advisor stressed on devising a robust action plan to maintain testing record of truck drivers who are residents of Jammu & Kashmir and entering through Lakhanpur.

He asked for regular updating of the entries of testing of drivers by taking feedback of test results from respective districts and added that the motive is to ensure hundred percent testing of local drivers.

On the occasion, DC Kathua informed that the regulated and unregulated returnees are being medically screened first and send to onward journey to their respective districts, where they have to undergo necessary administrative Quarantine.

He further informed that a 24X7 control room has been established at Lakhanpur to facilitate the trucks carrying essential consumable items and ambulances carrying patients in ambulances and private vehicles.

Earlier, Farooq Khan also inaugurated specially installed hanger shed for passengers with the accommodating capacity of over 300 people.

He also interacted with stranded labourers and assured speedy transportation to their respective district.

The Advisor also visited Sampling Centre, Data centre, control room established at Lakhanpur and inspected the arrangements.

He also visited the Quarantine Centres at Kalibari, Kathua and Barnoti and interacted with the inmates.

While interacting with Kashmir bound passengers, the Advisor directed authorities to ensure all arrangements for Sehri and Iftari for those observing Ramzan fasting. The inmates requested for their early shifting to their home districts.
