Srinagar, Jun 30 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday filed charge sheets against seven persons, including a former deputy commissioner and two police constables, in two separate corruption cases before special courts in Baramulla and Srinagar.
In a statement ACB said,
In the first case, a chargesheet was filed before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Baramulla, against former Bandipora DC Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, a retired executive engineer, two former clerks, and beneficiary Nisar Ahmad Itoo. The case (FIR No. 08/2017) pertains to the alleged fraudulent regularisation of Itoo, who was initially engaged as a temporary orderly. The probe found that official records were manipulated to grant him unauthorised service benefits, including salary and promotions, causing wrongful gain and loss to the government exchequer.

The court admitted the chargesheet, granted bail to the accused, and posted the next hearing for August 13.
In the second case, the ACB filed a chargesheet before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, against Selection Grade Constables Mohammad Ayoub Dar and Abdul Hamid Tantary. The case (FIR No. 20/2023) relates to a demand of a ?9,000 bribe to allow a loaded truck to cross the Traffic Check Post at Sonamarg towards Ladakh. Dar was allegedly caught red-handed accepting the money during a trap operation. Both have been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC for criminal conspiracy.
The court took the chargesheet on record and scheduled the next hearing for July 28. (KNS)
