Srinagar, Jul 12 (KNS): A meeting of activists and workers of Awami Action Committee (AAC) was held in Srinagar the with regard to the martyrdom anniversary of the martyrs of July 13, 1931 massacre. Paying tributes to the martyrs of 1931 the participants reiterated their pledge to the cause and mission of the martyrs. The participants strongly condemned the continuous house detention of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq since Juma tul vida (Last Friday of Ramadan) stating that caging him and not allowing any visitors to see him is worst form of state authoritarianism. The members of the meeting maintained that Mirwaiz being the religious head of people detaining him by force deeply hurts the sentiments of people and is greatly resisted by them.
Addressing the AAC meeting over phone, Mirwaiz urged the participants to ensure peaceful processions out to the martyrs graveyard at Khawaja Naqasbhan Sahab Shrine (RA) at Khawaja Bazar, to pay homage to the martys, as this day marks a significant milestone in the peoples struggle for self assertion and self-determination.
Paying tributes to the three youth Auqib Gul of Goripora, Tafazul Islam of Narbal and Sajad Ahmed Gilkar of Nowhatta martyred at Radbugh Budgam said that it is painful that our youth have to resort to arms to fight oppression as GOI refuses to engage with their political aspiration and resolution of the Kashmir dispute.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMirwaiz said not only are our youth killed mercilessly but their funeral processions are also targeted. Referring to the restrictions imposed in downtown Srinagar where the funeral prayers of Sajad Ahmed of Nowhatta were not allowed at Jamia Masjid Mirwaiz strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing of pellets and heavy teargas shelling in which many mourners got injured including media men covering the incident. Mirwaiz said state repression will not deter people from raising their voice and their resistance to injustice and tyranny will only increase.
Mirwaiz expressed condolence with the families of Amarnath Pilgrims, who got killed by unidentified gunmen at Botengoo in Anantnag and said that such acts are highly condemnable.
Meanwhile, at the meeting it was decided that the congregational procession will be commence from Jamia Masjid after zuhr prayers led by the Mirwaiz that would passed through Rajouri Kadal, Sarafkadal, Naid Kadal to Khanyar where it will culminate at the martyrs graveyard Khawaja Bazar where joint resistance leadership, will address the gathering and pay tributes to great martyrs of July 13, 1931.
The meeting urged people to make the July 13 program a grand success and to observe a complete shutdown on this day to express solidarity with the martyrs, who stood up against the then autocratic Dogra ruler. (KNS)
