Bandipora, May 24 (KNS) :A rising star is shining bright from the picturesque district of Bandipora — Malik Huzaif Bin Zahid, a 9-year-old chess prodigy, is making headlines with his extraordinary achievements in the game of kings.

Son of Zahid Hussain Malik, young Malik has become the youngest-rated chess player from District Bandipora, a feat that has put the region on the national chess map. His recent triumph at the UT Chess Championship held at Indoor Stadium Wazirbagh, Srinagar has left chess enthusiasts in awe.

Malik clinched a Gold Medal in the Under-9 category and a Silver Medal in the Under-13 category — outperforming players well beyond his age group.
