Handwara, August 20 (KNS): A 59-year-old man was wounded by a black bear in Drangsoo village, Mawer in Handwara of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday.
This incident comes just a day after a young child lost their life and a woman was gravely injured in separate incidents of wild animal attacks
An official told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that the victim, identified as Gh Mohiedin Malik, was working in his orchard when the black bear attacked him, causing severe injuries. He was promptly transported to NTPHC Qalamabad for immediate medical care, and later transferred to GMC Handwara for further treatment.
The previous day saw another instance of a black bear attack in Drangsoo Mawer, leaving a 39-year-old woman critically wounded. These recurring incidents of wild animal attacks have sparked apprehension within the local community, leading them to urge the Wildlife Department to swiftly capture these animals.
An official from the wildlife department confirmed the injuries sustained by the 59-year-old man and disclosed that efforts are underway to capture the responsible animal promptly.
Furthermore, over the weekend, tragedy struck in the Nichamama village of Rajwar when a 6-year-old girl fell victim to a fatal wild animal attack. Another woman also suffered injuries in a separate incident involving a wild animal.(KNS).
