"No taxation without representation": Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Feb 21 (KNS): Former Chief Minister J&K, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday criticized the property tax notification, saying "how people of J&K have to pay taxes when they have no say in government running and decision making".

Taking micro-blogging twitter, the former CM Omar Abdullah said “No Taxation Without Representation”.

"Why should people in J&K pay state taxes including the proposed property tax when we have no say in how our government is run & no say in the decision making of J&K. We are expected to be mute spectators to all unjust decisions by Raj Bhavan," he tweeted.

Earlier the J&K government issued a notification regarding imposition of property tax in the Union Territory that will come into force from April 1, 2023. (KNS)
