Srinagar, June 03 (KNS): Three militants were killed and an army soldier was injured in an ongoing encounter between government forces and militants in Kangan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said three JeM militants have been killed in the ongoing operation.

However, he said, the identity of the slain militants was yet to be ascertained.

Earlier a joint team of Police, Army’s 53 RR and 183 BN CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operatioin in Astan Mohalla Kangan.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter an official said.
