Handwara,May 26 (KNS): Handwara police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three notorious drug peddlers and have recovered 500 grams of Charas and 50 grams of Heroin from theirs possession in karalgund and Mawer areas of the sub division Handwara.

According to police statement, based on reliable information, a naka was laid at Ganapora Crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund. During checking one person namely Danish Farooq Mir was apprehended and during his personal search 50 grams of Heroin was recovered from his possession.

In this connection case FIR No. 66/2020 U/S 8/21 NDPS 109 IPC Act has been registered against him in Police Station Kralgund and investigation taken up.

Similarly a Naka was laid at Batgund crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Qalamabad. During search of a truck bearing registration no JK09B. 4743, Two persons namely Ab Rouf Bukhari and Shabir Ahmad Malik were apprehended and during their personal search 500gms of Charas was recovered from their possession.

In this context case FIR No. 51/2020 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered against them in Police Station Qalamabad and investigation taken up.

These efforts are hugely hailed by the general masses. Handwara Police has appealed general public to co-operate in sharing all the information related to drug abuse so that curative steps can be initiated, the statement said (KNS)
