Srinagar, Apr 26 (KNS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Vidhi Kumar Birdhi Friday stated that security forces are resolute to minimize terrorist incidents in Kashmir Valley.

Speaking to reporters in north Kashmir’s Sopore, IGP Kashmir said that security forces are alert to thwart nefarious designs of terrorist and resolute to minimize terrorist incidents in Kashmir Valley.

“We are committed to ensure safe and peaceful environment for elections. Further our efforts are on and are determined and resolute to minimize terrorist incidents in Kashmir,” IGP Kashmir Zone as per KNS said.

He added the killing of two terrorists in north Kashmir’s Sopore is a proof that security forces are alert and committed in making Jammu and Kashmir peaceful.

Responding to a query, the IGP said that two terrorists have been gunned down in Nowpora Sopore gunfight. “After receiving inputs the Army’s 22 RR, Jammu & Kashmir Police and CRPF laid siege of the village and started searches. Soon the suspected area was approached the hiding terrorists fired upon the search party, triggering an encounter in the area. The firefight continued throughout the night, resulting elimination of two terrorists,” IGP said.

He added arms, ammunition and incriminating material were recovered from the killed terrorists while identification of killed terrorists is being ascertained. (KNS)
