Shiekh Imran seeks loan waiver for handicrafts and horticulture sectors


Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Shiekh Mohammad Imran on Friday appealed authorities to wave off the loans of Kashmiri people who are dependent on Handicraft Horticulture sectors.
According to KNS he said the handicrafts and horticulture is considered the back bone of the Kashmir economy and most of the people are solely dependent on it.
He said government should pay attention towards it as more than 30lakh people in Kashmir are related to these sectors, adding that several promises were done with the people who are related with it but so far none of the promise has been fulfilled.
The people Kashmir have seen very hardships and difficulties in past but fought with them all the time but this time people have been trapped in Covid 19 pandemic were there really a need of practical support, he added.
While appealing all the associations who are related with handicraft and Horticulture to submit a proposal to Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary hopefully they will find a scheme for it.
He also said like other states the government has given loan wave off to farmers the government should also give the same in Kashmir (KNS)
