Srinagar, Jul 9 (KNS): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch, in coordination with the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), on Wednesday destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at the Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) in Lassipora area of Pulwama district, officials said.
The contraband, comprising charas, ganja and psychotropic tablets, had been seized by the ANTF during various anti-narcotics operations across Kashmir and was destroyed in compliance with court orders, they said.
Officials said the disposal was carried out through a scientific and environmentally compliant incineration process at the IGC Lassipora facility under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee.

The destruction process was chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing Kashmir and Chairman of the Drug Disposal Committee, Abdul Waheed Shah. Deputy Superintendent of Police, ANTF, Kubra Nazir, Senior Prosecuting Officer, EOW Kashmir, Abdul Bari, and other officials were also present to oversee the exercise.
The officials said the disposal was conducted in strict accordance with legal procedures and court directions.
They said the exercise forms part of the government's ongoing efforts under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to curb drug abuse and ensure the lawful disposal of seized narcotic substances.(KNS).
