Passengers complain of ‘overcharging’ by cab drivers in Budgam

Budgam, June 16 (KNS): The cab drivers plying illegally on Red zone area in Budgam district are posing threat to lives of people to get infected and are overcharging the passengers at different routes of the area .
Talking to KNS a group of passengers said earlier we used to pay fare according to rate issued by concerned department but now they are being overcharged on these routes including Beerwah Magam, Magam Srinagar, Beerwah Srinagar.
"Due to lack of inspections by concerned department, Drivers are talking advantage of this. We are left no option, but to pay according to the will of these drivers" Said Zahoor Ahmad.
"Budgam is declared as red zone and no vehicle other then SRTC buses are allowed to play as per govt order. Then I don't know who give them permission to ply."said Ab Rehman (passenger)
A.R.T.O Budgam Mubashir Jan talking to KNS said the drivers are running illegally. "we have not given permission any of the vehicles to ply on roads except for SRTC buses." Jan said
Asked whether he will act against these cab drivers for running illegally and overcharging fare, He said it is not in his domain, but rather it is the work of police to keep vigil on them (KNS)
