JAMMU, JULY 10 (KNS) ; The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Friday reported an overall attendance of 90.30 per cent in the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (NMMS) Examination for 2025-26, with 6,000 of the 6,644 enrolled candidates appearing for the test.
The examination, conducted under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Government of India, is designed to identify and support meritorious students from economically weaker sections studying in government and government-aided schools across the Union Territory.
Official sources said the examination was held smoothly under the overall supervision of JKBOSE Chairman-cum-Secretary Ghulam Hassan Sheikh (JKAS). Dr Parveen Singh, Director Academics and Liaison Officer for NMMS, coordinated the conduct of the examination in association with officers and officials of the Academics Division, they added.

The Board appreciated the cooperation extended by Chief Education Officers, who served as District Nodal Officers, along with centre superintendents, deputy superintendents, invigilators, and inspection teams for ensuring a transparent and orderly examination process throughout the UT.
In a statement, JKBOSE expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their facilitation, which helped provide an enabling environment for the examinees.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, fairness, and excellence in the implementation of the NMMS scheme, the Board extended its best wishes to all candidates who appeared in the examination. (KNS)
