Srinagar, 08 Jul (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women's Wing today held a special one-day convention of the Ganderbal Assembly Constituency at Rampora, Ganderbal. The meeting was chaired by Women's Wing President and MLA Shameema Firdous and attended by Provincial Women's Wing President Er. Sabiya Qadri.
The convention discussed measures to further strengthen the party's organisational structure at the grassroots level, increase women's political participation and reinforce the institutional framework of the Women's Wing. Participants stressed the need to intensify grassroots organisational activities and expand public outreach to strengthen the democratic process.
Addressing the gathering, Shameema Firdous reaffirmed the party's commitment to public welfare and said that the Omar Abdullah-led government has consistently prioritised the welfare and empowerment of women.
She said the government is working to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every section of society, especially women, who form the backbone of the community. She added that the government's focus remains on empowering women through education, economic support and dignified governance.
She further stated that initiatives aimed at generating employment opportunities, supporting economically weaker families and promoting self-employment schemes have laid a strong foundation for inclusive and sustainable development.
Highlighting the party's social welfare agenda, she said efforts are being made to improve women's mobility, provide financial assistance to economically weaker families for marriage-related expenses and implement other welfare initiatives that reflect the party's commitment to social justice and equitable development.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
She also encouraged women to actively participate in entrepreneurship, self-help groups and self-reliance initiatives so that they can achieve long-term financial independence and improve their socio-economic status.
In her address, Er. Sabiya Qadri urged women party workers to further strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, expand public outreach and prepare comprehensively for the forthcoming Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body elections. She also called upon them to play an active role in ensuring the success of the programme commemorating the death anniversary of Madar-e-Meherban Begum Akbar Jehan on July 11.
The convention concluded with a renewed pledge to promote unity within the Women's Wing, strengthen grassroots public engagement and advance the National Conference's pro-people, progressive and women-centric agenda across Jammu and Kashmir.
Women representatives from all nine blocks of Ganderbal participated in the convention, which was organised by District Women's Wing President Tasleema Majeed (former DDC member). Others present included Provincial Youth President Mushtaq Mir, Provincial Vice President of the Women's Wing Shabina Khan, Provincial Secretary Ayesha Jameel, and other party functionaries.(KNS)
