Jammu, Jul 20 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reviewed the situation arising out of heavy rains, flash floods and landslides across parts of the Union Territory and directed field officials to urgently assess the damage to houses and public infrastructure.

In a post on X, Sinha said he spoke to senior officials to assess the impact of the adverse weather and expressed grief over the loss of two lives in Doda district.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of two lives in Doda, and my heart goes out to their families," he said.

The lieutenant governor said emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army, have been deployed and are on high alert in vulnerable areas.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said key roads in the rain-hit districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur have been reopened, while efforts are underway to restore water supply in several affected areas.

Sinha also directed field teams to carry out an immediate assessment of the damage caused to residential houses and public infrastructure so that relief and restoration measures could be expedited.(KNS)
