Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNS): As many as 8,79,112 beneficiaries were covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) in Jammu and Kashmir as on January 1, 2025, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma said on Monday.

Sharma, who also holds the portfolios of Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports and ARI & Trainings, was replying to a question raised by Sajad Gani Lone in the Legislative Assembly.

The Minister informed the House that the Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a provision for refilling the cost of six free domestic LPG cylinders per annum for AAY families.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The benefit is proposed to be provided through Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, he said.

Sharma said necessary action for implementation of the scheme is underway and various aspects and modalities involved are currently being examined.

The exact financial implication of the scheme will be worked out after its modalities are finalised, he added.(KNS)
