Leaders raised concern over withdrawal of Security on discriminatory basis

Jammu, Feb 01 :(KNS) President JKPCC Shri Ghulam Ahmed Mir has impressed upon the Congress workers to vigorously hold membership drive in their respective areas as membership is backbone of any political party, which shall followed by elections at all levels in the party..

Addressing a meeting of Senior Functionaries PCC, District Presidents, Frontal Organizations heads, Corporators and other important leaders of the party from different district of Jammu Region here today, PCC President said that Membership drive is already in progress and it shall be followed by Organizational Elections right from booth level units, Blocks, Districts, PCC to AICC. The Election Process is being supervised by the Independent Election Authority of the Party at the natonal level as well as in state/UT levels.

The meeting was attended and addressed by several senior leaders including S/Shri Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Th. Manmohan Singh, Rajnish Sharma ,Th. Balbir Singh, Ashok Sharma,T.S. Bajwa, Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Shahnawaz Choudhary, Indu Pawar, Ved Mahajan, G.L. Chalotra, Hari Singh Chib, Krishan Bhagat, Ch. Abdul Gani, Farooq Katoch, Rajesh Sadotra, Panaj Dogra, Sanjeev Sharma, Ashok Dogra, Indu Pawar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Gurdarshan Singh, Vijay Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Karan Bhagat, Pawan Raina, Col Swarn Singh, Kuldeep Verma, Nissar Ahmed(Rtd. IG), Zahida Khan,Sanjeev Panda, Dr. Rashid Choudhary, Sahil Sharma, Sh. Dwarka Choudhary, Pritam Singh, Ritu Choudhary. Bhanu Mahajan, Uttam Singh Chib, Satish Sharma, Amrit Bali, Nadeem Niaz, Feroz Khan, Gajan Singh, Bhavishya Sudan, Ch. Hussain Wafa, Vandana Makhnotra, Pranav Shagotra, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Rajvir Singh, Dr. R.K. Khajuria, Krishan Lal Gupta, Narinder Gupta and others.

PCC Chief asked party leaders of all levels to enroll maximum members at each booth, as booth is the most important Unit. He said that PRO for Jammu and Kashmir Smt. Ranjita Ranjan (EX-MP) shall be monitoring the overall membership drive, besides each committee shall be monitored by BROs & DROs etc. He said that membership shall be available on digital mode also.

Without naming any party Shri Mir said that Congress party does not believe in miss call membership and it enrolls members by making personal contact to each and every person who believe on the policies and programmes of the Congress party and want to become member of the party. He asked the senior functionaries including Ex-Legislators, District and Block Presidents, Frontal Wings of the party to strengthen the party by means of vigorously membership drive. He also asked them to enroll maximum womrn, youth, SC, ST, OBC and Minorities as per party constitution.

Raman Bhalla said that Congress is being widely accepted by the people in the state and the people’s faith in the party has been fully revived and added that it is high time to open the doors for induction of new members in the party fold. He further said that membership drive shall be conducted at the grass root level in all the Districts, Tehsils, Block and Panchayats. He said that Congress shall emerge further stronger after the membership and organizational elections in the UT and Country and it will stage a comeback. He asked Congress to expose the anti people, anti farmers and anti youth policies of BJP at all fronts.

Mula Ram suggested various ways and means to involve maximum people including women and youth in the Congress party with the active participation of District Presidents, Block Presidents, contested candidates and frontal organizations. It was also stressed that due representation should be given to SC, ST and OBC in the organization, as provided in the Congress Constitution so that weaker sections are given due place and posts in the party.

Meanwhile the speakers expressed grave concern over the withdrawal of security cover to several top leaders of the party including former ministers and legislators and senior functionaries on discriminatory basis exposing them to the nefarious designs of terrorist and international forces, whereas the ruling leaders and other favorite have more than adequate security. The meeting also decided to raise this issue of serious concern by appropriate means. (KNS)
