Baramulla May 05 (KNS): Cracking a whip on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police have seized 6 vehicles and arrested 6 drivers in Baramulla.

Police parties under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla/ SDPO Pattan/ Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Baramulla/ SHO PS Tangmarg & Incharge PP Palhallan seized 6 vehicles (2 tractors and 4 tippers), & arrested 6 drivers involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals at Khanpora, Shrai & Dargam areas of Baramulla. The accused drivers have been identified as Abdul Hamid Dar son of Ab Khaliq resident of Khanpora, Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Gh Mohd resident of Ijara Pehlipora, Asif Shafi Dar son of Mohd Shafi resident of Drangbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Magray son of Jalal ud din resident of Shrai, Mohammad Shafi Ganie son of Gh Rasool resident of Gulab Bagh Reram & Waqar Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Naidkhai.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been taken up.

People are requested not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/river as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. (KNS)
