IGP Traffic J&K Chairs High-Level Meet to Finalize Amarnath Yatra Traffic Plan

 Srinagar, June 30 (KNS): With the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 approaching, Inspector General of Police, Traffic J&K, M. Suleman Choudhary, IPS, on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to firm up traffic management plans along the Kashmir axis, officials said.

 
The review meeting was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range Javed Iqbal Matoo, DIG CRPF Anantnag, SSP Kulgam, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, SSP Traffic National Highway Ramban, SP Headquarters Anantnag, SP NHW Qazigund, besides other senior officers from civil police, CRPF, traffic police, and district administrations of Anantnag and Kulgam.
 
According to officials, the meeting undertook a detailed assessment of the proposed traffic plan, with particular emphasis on seamless coordination among all stakeholder agencies to ensure safe and smooth passage of Yatra convoys. Strict enforcement of notified convoy cut-off timings was deliberated upon, and officers were directed to ensure compliance without any relaxation.
 
Choudhary stressed the need for real-time information sharing, prompt resolution of traffic bottlenecks, and effective regulation of civilian vehicular movement to facilitate uninterrupted convoy movement.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also called for round-the-clock monitoring of road conditions, quick response to emergencies, and adequate deployment of personnel at vulnerable and congestion-prone stretches.
 
Officers have been tasked with maintaining close coordination with district administrations, CRPF, road maintenance agencies, and other line departments to tackle any contingency swiftly. The IGP also emphasised timely dissemination of traffic advisories, management of stranded vehicles, and ensuring minimal inconvenience to the public while according top priority to Yatra-related movement.
 
Reiterating that safety and convenience of pilgrims remain the topmost priority, the IGP Traffic directed all officers to work in synergy, uphold professional standards, and ensure meticulous execution of the traffic management blueprint throughout the Yatra period, officials added. (KNS)
