Srinagar:  Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary has expressed serious concern over the tardy distribution of relief among needy and destitute being done in Srinagar and its adjoining areas amid the lockdown due to COVID19 outbreak.  

Kadfeen in a statement issued here has said that there are complaints coming in from various quarters about how the relief distribution being done by the government has become a fresh victim of official apathy with needy and destitute in absolute distress and chaos dominating the scenes.

He added that there is absolutely no proper mechanism kept in place by the government to ensure that the relief distribution work is carried out in just and transparent manner. Kadfeen said that the people who are in dire need of the government help are compelled to move from pillar to post as there is no functional helpdesk of the work or a contact point wherein the needy and deserving families could register their grievances and seek government aid.

The Congress leader added that it is extremely worrisome that in times of pandemic, the officials who have been tasked to extend helping hand to the needy are exhibiting absolute carelessness and dilatory mode of functioning.  “Common masses have absolutely no idea wherefrom to seek government help, the food kits, and any other assistance. The fact is that people are helping each other amid the present pandemic while as the government has arrogated the role of a silent, still and solitary spectator,” said Kadfeen.

He urged the government agencies to establish help desks in each and every area and extend the helping hand to the people in need. Kadfeen also stressed for the greater coordination between the government agencies so that the relief material is received by the deserving lot and the process doesn’t turn  like any other government scheme infested with irregularities and discrepancies.
