Srinagar, 20 June (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament from Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah have greeted people at the annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Farid Ud Din Baghdadi (RA).
In his message Dr Farooq said that Kashmir has from time immemorial been a cradle of Sufism; it goes without saying that Kashmir possesses the richest traditions of all hues of Sufi mystic traditions, which have all along been the integral part of people’s lives. “An Alcove of great sages, saints and erudite personalities, Jammu and Kashmir bears the distinction of having a social life, which is deeply imbued with the teachings of such great men as Shah Sahib. Islamic Mysticism has although been a cultural mainstay of our culture, and traditions. Hazrat Shah Farid Ud Din Sahib (RA) was one among the galaxy of saints who had devoted their life in search of truth and self actualization. His message was that of truth, equality, and brotherhood. On the annual Urs Observance, I greet the people with a view that the day augurs well for J&k. I pray that the day increases the prospects of peace and further the cause of brotherhood in J&K and elsewhere in the world,” he said in a statement issued to KNS.
Party Vice President while greeting the people said that great saints, and sages like Hazrat Shah Sahib won the hearts of common masses with their piety. “These people preached the doctrine of love, humanity, compassion and brotherhood. It is high time that we imbue our lives with the teachings of great men like Hazrat Shah Baghdadi Sahib (RA). I extend my warm greeting to people especially the people of Kistawar and adjoining areas on the auspicious eve. I pray that the day fills our lives with peace particularly during existing times when humanity is going through ineffable, yet palpable miseries both inside and outside J&K due to the COVID-19 crises,” he said.
Meanwhile Party general Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar; Party’s Members of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi; Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy, Ajaz Jan have also greeted people on the auspicious eve of Urs praying for the wellbeing of people of J&K.
